PetrSU at Belarusian State Agricultural Academy
Petrozavodsk State University and Belarusian State of the Orders of the October Revolution and the Order of the Labor Red Banner Agricultural Academy outlined the directions of cooperation between the two leading educational institutinos of Russia and Belarus.
On April 3, the oldest agricultural university both in Belarus and Russia - Belarusian State Agricultural Academy - welcomed a delegation from PetrSU.
Among the members of the delegation members were Konstantin Tarasov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Vladimir Siunev, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Tamara Kuchko, Director of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies, Vadim Kostiukevich, the Director of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences.
During the visit, the partners held a meeting. The First Vice-Rector of BSAA Andrey Kolmykov, Yuri Tibets, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, and other representatives of university faculties, welcomed the guests.
At the meeting, possible development points of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed. Many suggestions have arisen. It turned out that there is much in common between the universities both in educational programs and in research work. Petrozavodsk State University also plans to open a new program in biotechnology, as it is needed by the country. An important peculiarity of educational programs in Belarusian and Russian universities is that they are of a practice-oriented nature. PetrSU became a basis for the Northern European Open Research and Education Consortium (NEOPEC), and the guests suggested joining it. This may help in creating a "triumvirate" of PetrSU, BSAA and Vologda State Dairy Farming Academy named after Vereshchagin.
Discussing the prospects for cooperation, Andrei Kolmykov assured that the leadership of the BSAA would be grateful for the establishment of closer cooperation between our universities.
